Obsessions This Week: April 27–May 3, 2025
Russian spies, Dairy Star, and I finally saw "Sinners."
It hit 80 F for the first time all year in Chicago this week, which meant a lot of lovely outdoor adventures that included ice cream pilgrimages, riverside bicycle rides, and beach visits with dogs. In between panicking about DOGE messing with the nuclear codes and reading that viral John Fetterman piece over at NY Mag, I started a new part time job in food service, published a list in CN Traveler, and managed to finally see Sinners.
It also dropped forty degrees yesterday, so don’t get it twisted: it wasn’t all beaches and tulips, climate change is real, and May in the Midwest is still unpredictable. I did two shifts at Parson’s Chicken and Fish as a runner this week—yet another industry that simply calls itself “the industry” when you’re in it (as does entertainment). Ask me anything. It’s hard work!
