The buzziest thing in my corner of the internet this week is how Quinn, the audio erotica app, produced an aural romantasy experience with the lead actors from Heated Rivalry.1 This is the same company that makes audio erotica with the voice talents of Andrew Scott and Manny Jacinto. I don’t know exactly where Quinn’s capital (and chutzpah) comes from, or why venture capitalists think it’s a safe bet (beyond the $7.99/month subscription price and the fact the CEO is the sister of the Snapchat CEO2), but as a company, it’s been good at riding the waves of popularity and reading the proverbial tea leaves for what the people want. I was personally disappointed in the writing, which seemed like it had been written by a man who hates both women and the romantasy genre, but that’s just me and YMMV.3
The other thing happening is, of course, that it is New Year’s Eve (and the last night of Kwanzaa). I know some traditions regard today as a deep cleaning day, and I am trying to honor that by washing the mirrors and bed linens today.
